Dorm Decor

Oh hey! This post is way overdue. If you didn't already know, I am a second year college student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I'm in the dorms once again, and have realized that decorating such a tiny area is a hassle and just frustrating. Nevertheless, I have managed to create my own space that I personally think is simple, but cute. It took me a week to make sure every detail is perfect...so here's the final product:

My bed! I'm 99.9% sure that I bought my comforter set from Target (the love of my life), and I just threw on my Cars pillow pet and my build a bear to give it a little "home-y" feel. I absolutely LOVE anything Disney, hence the Mickey poster. I love the vintage feel of it, and that it gives my bed area a pop of color.

On the wall adjacent to my bed, is this masterpiece. I was ever so lucky enough to watch One Direction This Is Us (yes, I am proud to be a Directioner) 20 days before it's release, where I received this poster. I didn't want such a tiny poster to be all alone on a huge white wall, so I accented it with some polaroids hanging on twine with clothespins. Looks simple, yet reflects who I am.

Here is my desk area! I hate clutter, so all of my school supplies are mostly in drawers or bookcases. Therefore, I have a very simple calendar from the Container Store, a magnetic strip for notes and such, and some other simple things.

I don't want my desk area to  be distracting, but I want to be comfortable. And for me, to be comfortable, I need to feel at home. Pictures like this, remind me of home. On another note, I purchased the little jewelry holder from Target and the frame Disneyland.

I love the beach, the ocean, whatever you want to call it...I love it. I attend a school in a city notorious for its beaches, so it's not that hard to figure out. Mason jars just look classy, vintage, and simple (I've been using those adjectives a lot in this post). I filled a larger one with sand to use as a pencil/pen holder, and I filled the other two with seashells that I handpicked myself from various beaches I've visited. These are simple decorations that make a whole lot of differences.

I hope ya'll appreciated this post! I was skeptical about posting such a personal area of my life for everyone in the world to see, but I love seeing room decorating ideas online. So I thought to myself, "Why not contribute to that community?" Do you guys have any tips? Better yet, what decorations do you have in your room?

Dare to be different.
