Dorm Decor

Oh hey! This post is way overdue. If you didn't already know, I am a second year college student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I'm in the dorms once again, and have realized that decorating such a tiny area is a hassle and just frustrating. Nevertheless, I have managed to create my own space that I personally think is simple, but cute. It took me a week to make sure every detail is perfect...so here's the final product:

My bed! I'm 99.9% sure that I bought my comforter set from Target (the love of my life), and I just threw on my Cars pillow pet and my build a bear to give it a little "home-y" feel. I absolutely LOVE anything Disney, hence the Mickey poster. I love the vintage feel of it, and that it gives my bed area a pop of color.

On the wall adjacent to my bed, is this masterpiece. I was ever so lucky enough to watch One Direction This Is Us (yes, I am proud to be a Directioner) 20 days before it's release, where I received this poster. I didn't want such a tiny poster to be all alone on a huge white wall, so I accented it with some polaroids hanging on twine with clothespins. Looks simple, yet reflects who I am.

Here is my desk area! I hate clutter, so all of my school supplies are mostly in drawers or bookcases. Therefore, I have a very simple calendar from the Container Store, a magnetic strip for notes and such, and some other simple things.

I don't want my desk area to  be distracting, but I want to be comfortable. And for me, to be comfortable, I need to feel at home. Pictures like this, remind me of home. On another note, I purchased the little jewelry holder from Target and the frame Disneyland.

I love the beach, the ocean, whatever you want to call it...I love it. I attend a school in a city notorious for its beaches, so it's not that hard to figure out. Mason jars just look classy, vintage, and simple (I've been using those adjectives a lot in this post). I filled a larger one with sand to use as a pencil/pen holder, and I filled the other two with seashells that I handpicked myself from various beaches I've visited. These are simple decorations that make a whole lot of differences.

I hope ya'll appreciated this post! I was skeptical about posting such a personal area of my life for everyone in the world to see, but I love seeing room decorating ideas online. So I thought to myself, "Why not contribute to that community?" Do you guys have any tips? Better yet, what decorations do you have in your room?

Dare to be different.

DIY Earring Organizer

I'm going to start off by saying...I love Pinterest. So thank you Pinterest for showing me how to make this DIY Earring Organizer. I usually throw my earrings in a box and end up having to fish for both pairs. But this was so easy to make and too cute to not use. I absolutely love it and always get compliments on it. I went for a Little Mermaid inspired look, since she is my favorite princess and I love the seashell. The box, the paint, and the felt was purchased from my local art store (Michaels), and it took me about 2 hours to make. If you're the crafty type or just need a place to throw your jewelry, this will be PERFECT for you. Use your imagination! Store rings, earrings, and bracelets! Make it your own! Comment below if you decide to do it! I'd like to see how it turns out. Also, comment below if you have any other diy ideas! I love trying new things.

If your interested in making this, go ahead and click here for the tutorial.

You're perfect.

BFFFFFFF

Hey guys! Look how cute we are! This is Vy! Otherwise known as my best friend, or boo thang. This post is a little late, because the last time I saw her was the night before I left for school. Boo. We grabbed Chipotle, Starbucks, went on a mini Target make up haul, blogged, and took so many pictures. It had been awhile since I laughed that hard. These pictures do not begin to sum up that night or even our friendship. That's basically it! I just wanted to post a blog about my best friend, because she deserves to be known by everyone.

I miss you and love you! Can't wait till we reunite! P.S. WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?

If you're looking for an awesome blog, check out Vy's! She blogs about beauty, her life, and everything in between! Just follow her because she's gorgeous. And then be prepared for a little post about my dorm room at school :)

Smile.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation

Let me tell you, I could wear this foundation all day everyday. I'm serious! My skin tone is pretty dark and I'm fairly oily, so the problem I always have with foundations is that it's hard to find products that have a wide color selection, but this foundation tackles both of those issues. I have it in the color "Toast", which suits me so perfectly that I can barely tell I'm wearing it. There are also 2 versions you can get, normal/dry skin or combination/oily. I obviously get the combination/oily, but I still have my oily moments throughout the day that need touch ups. That is honestly the only downside. Anyways, I use a wet beauty blender sponge to apply it. It goes on smooth, light, and covers up every area that is needed. I usually don't need concealer after I wear it. Although I love this foundation (and would recommend it to everyone), remember that everyone's skin is different and everyone's taste is different. So give it a try and let me know how you like it!

Stay Golden.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Shadow

Hey there! So these are Maybelline Color Tattoo eye shadow pots. Oh my goodness...I love these. Because they are cream shadows, I use my finger to apply them rather than a brush. Although that can be a downside, these definitely last the whole day and are super pigmented. Pictured above is Tough as Taupe (top), Pomegranate Punk (left), and Bad to the Bronze (right). Of the three, I like the Pomegranate Punk the best because it has a maroon tone that looks absolutely gorgeous on any skin tone. However, I also really like Barely Branded (which is a nude color) and Inked in Pink (which is a light pink color). Both look a little light on darker skin but still highlight very well. If you're not a fan of powder eye shadow or want brighter colors, I highly recommend trying these out!

You're lovely.

Kit Kats

This, right here, is a Green Tea and Sakura Kit Kat bar. It basically is the best thing to ever happen to Kit Kat bars. Sakura means "Cherry Blossom" in Japanese, which happens to be a gorgeous flower that is extremely symbolic in Japan. I first tried one in Japan and immediately bought a suitcase full. It's taste is definitely hard to describe. I guess it has a hint of green tea, a hint of cherry, and a hint of white chocolate.

On a different note, these bars have kick-started a life goal of mine...I intend to try every flavor/type of Kit Kat from around the world. Call me crazy, but who else can say that they have tried every flavor?

So far, I have tried...
- Green Tea and Sakura
- Wasabi
- Kit Kat Pop Choc
- Chunky Caramel
- Regular Chunky
- Chunky Hazelnut Cream
- Chunky White Chocolate
- Regular Chocolate from the US, England, Japan, and Australia

You're gorgeous.

What can you expect?

"But Janelle, what is this blog about?"
Exactly what the description to the left says. I simply need a place to spill my thoughts, reviews, and opinions. There definitely is a wide range of topics I probably will post about. Therefore, if you're looking for solely a beauty blog, a fashion blog, or whatever...you've come to the wrong place. BUT, if you are interested in a combination of beauty, fashion, pop culture, current events, my personal life, and pure word vomit...WELCOME.

I already love you.

Me, Myself, and I

Hi! Obviously, my name is Janelle. Ignore the chicken in the picture. It's literally the best picture of myself that I have. Anyways! I currently attend the University of California, Santa Cruz. Other than that, I'm addicted to the internet, obsessed with anything Disney, and infatuated with One Direction (I know, I know). But if you're really trying to get to know me, the key to my heart is food and my Starbucks order is a Venti Iced Caramel Macchiato. Moving on...

And here is a lovely picture of my family! My sister (Destiny), my dad (Edwin), and my mom (Leilani). Honestly, that's it. They provide me with life. What else do I need to say?

Awh, puppy! This is Yuuki. I literally got her 2 months ago from the Alameda County Fair. I fell in love the second I laid my eyes on her. Then, I was told that her ex-owners cut her ears and her tail with scissors for no reason whatsoever. I'm so grateful to give her a place to live and the love she deserves.

This is Ginger! She is just a fat and lazy cat. All she does is eat and sleep, but I love her anyways.

Jason. My boyfriend of 3 years. That's really all you need to know. The rest is for us...

You're beautiful.
